When we duplicate an artifact, we must have in mind a
clear idea of whether the finished product should appear new, or aged. If we are
to make it appear aged, matching the existing, usually only one or two mold
generations are required. If it is to appear as new, careful work on the
existing component and several molds will undoubtedly be required.
After we remove the mold, the original will have a glossy finish, and be slippery. We cannot paint over this.
