What makes RHR different from other wrought iron fabricators?
Rather than pre-fabricating your railings in a shop and trying to coax
them into position, our wrought iron railings are built in place from the
ground up.
- While most wrought iron is installed with tiny screws that eventually work
loose, we pierce the mounting surfaces and anchor the newel posts with the
same type of epoxy grout that bridge contractors use to mount guard rails.
- After which, all components are cut and fitted in-place. This compensates
for uneven surfaces and out of square conditions ever-present on existing
structures. As the railings are constructed, each and every baluster &
post is plumbed before being affixed. Compensations are made for odd angles
and required clearances.
- When complete, the tips of the railings are trimmed to match before ends
are attached, resulting in a formal appearance.
- Finally, the railing is coated in either an alkyd paint or sand blasted
and coated in super abrasion resistant epoxy paint.
This requires significantly more time than the "pre-fab"
alternative, but yields an investment worth making.
