A-Not much. Basically, the only maintenance required beyond cleaning with any household cleaner or cleanser is to touch-up whenever the finish is no longer pleasing in appearance. This interval is usually 15 to 25 years for most people. Although minor rust is not a good thing, it is nothing to fear structurally.

Q-What kind of paint should I touch-up with?

A-An alkyd paint is the best choice. other paints either don't last as long, or allow moisture to penetrate.
